The Soul Crier

“Every soul has a song. I’m the monster who sings them.”

- The Soul Crier

Meet Wraith

For ten years, Wraith has been Red Death’s banshee. She’s a ghost to her world even though she is physically present. No one can see her or hear her, except for Red Death’s victims.

The only type of touch she has known, has left scars. The only future she has is to sing and sing again. There is no end to this brutal game of song and murder.

Whoever she was, has been lost, but a small part of her hangs onto the foolish hope that her future might change. That one day, her curse will break.

If I didn’t sing, would they still die?
— Wraith, The Soul Crier

Red Death loves three things, the color red, stabbing hearts, and making Wraith sing.

Unlike Wraith, he knows their past. A series of choices he deems boring. He keeps the truth locked deep within his shriveled heart, so they can have fun. Of course his style of fun is always bloody. He has one weakness that he won’t admit to, and a deep hatred for the city he preys upon.

Nothing matters more to him than winning the game.

Violence is my favorite language.
— Red Death, The Soul Crier

Meet Red Death

Meet Dovan

Dovan, an orphan raised by a guider, has spent most of his life protecting and serving the city of Riffen. Often, this means braving the icy snowfields and packs of wolves to rescue bands of refugees.

When he becomes the victim in Red Death’s latest game, he embraces his role and offers Wraith a chance to experience what she’s never know. Love. Because even banshees deserve to be treated like human beings.

I have lived my life serving others. I will not die serving myself.

The Soul Crier

A banshee trapped in a curse.

A noble soldier with a secret.

A killer who controls their fate.

Only two will survive the night.

Invisible to everyone except Red Death’s victims, Wraith has served as his banshee for ten years. His curse forces her to play his game of music and murder while winter slowly starves their world. After singing hundreds of victims to their deaths, any hope she had of breaking her curse is as dead as everyone’s hope of seeing spring reborn—until the impossible happens.

A soldier sees her before her curse activates.

Dovan welcomes her into his life, treating her with kindness instead of trying to kill her like the other victims of her song.Desperate to understand why he’s different, Wraith risks getting closer to him, drawn to a life she can never have. Banshees don’t fall in love, and Red Death won’t be denied his kill. But something’s weakening the curse, giving her a chance to change their fate.

Save Dovan’s life, break her curse, or end winter—Wraith can only choose one.

This low spice (just kissing) NA fantasy is perfect for fans of star-crossed lovers, shocking secrets, and curse-breaking.
